General Cleaning
IMPORTANT: Always unplug the power cord before attempting to clean any part of your treadmill.
Daily Maintenance
- Before use, wipe off any sweat/dust/debris from the dashboard and the deck.
- Following your workout, wipe off any sweat/dust/debris from the dashboard and the deck to avoid corrosion and injury to anyone using it after you.
Tip: Keep some paper towels nearby to remind you to wipe down your machine before/after use. Learn more about sanitizing your machine here.
Weekly Maintenance
- Wipe down the entire treadmill with a damp cloth and water. Remember to use only water as some more abrasive cleaners can do more harm than good by damaging lubricants or breaking down components.
- Vacuum around and under the treadmill to pick up dust and debris that could get under the belt or in the electrical component.
- Wipe down the belt itself, by pushing it with your hand to manually rotate it and then carefully dry it the same way.
Monthly Maintenance
- Dirt, dust, and hair can block air inlets and accumulate on the running belt. Vacuum underneath your treadmill to prevent excess build-up of dirt that can get sucked up and get into the inner workings under the motor cover.
- Remove the motor hood. Clean any dirt and debris that has accumulated with a soft cloth or vacuum attachment.
- Lubricate the treadmill belt. Need assistance? See our article: “How to Lubricate Your Treadmill.”
- Tighten and align the belt if it has become loose or misaligned. Need assistance? See our article: “How to Adjust Treadmill Belt Tension and Set Tracking.”
- Every other month, remove the motor cover and carefully vacuum out dirt and hair that may have accumulated.
Cleaning Your Treadmill Belt
IMPORTANT: Always unplug the power cord before attempting to clean any part of your treadmill.
To clean your treadmill belt:
- Ensure that your machine is off, and that the power cord is unplugged to minimize risk of injury.
- Grab one edge of the treadmill belt, and lift slightly to expose the area between the top of the treadmill base and the running belt.
- Do a visual check for any dirt or debris accumulation.
- Should dirt and debris be present, slide a towel or cleaning cloth between the treadmill belt and top of the treadmill base until you can grasp one end on each side. Tip: the cleaning cloth should be longer than the running belt is wide to achieve this.
- Using both hands, drag the cleaning cloth up and down the length of the treadmill base 1-2 times.
- For excessive dirt accumulation, rotate the belt halfway, and repeat step 5. Continue until your cleaning cloth is no longer picking up any dirt.
- Remove cleaning cloth from the treadmill before plugging back in and powering on for use.
